Zadok Ben David's arresting installation, Blackfield, is comprised of thousands of black painted steel cutouts of botanical prints taken from old textbooks, embedded in sand; the other side of each delicate piece is painted in vivid colors, magically bringing the field to life as you walk its perimeter. Breathtaking.

Lately I've been putting together new jewelry pieces, playing around with shapes & textures; I'm finding reassembling old pieces & putting together bits collected over the years from many different origins especially satisfying. 

New year, new pieces from well-loved sources rethought... a good directive for living, perhaps?

clean industry



 







I featured this atelier in an earlier post, having fallen in love with the bent-wire quote wending its way across the wall. The rest of this Parisian apartment is just as stunning... oh, all of my favorite elements are here: airy light, artwork, books, a beautiful & utilitarian kitchen, a mix of old & new, rough patinas paired with soft & shiny textures, industrial & curvaceous furnishings, functional yet comfortable spaces. The polished concrete floor & open wrought iron railings gives the feeling of a living space enfolding a once open courtyard. And that chandelier...
